Description

This excursion explores Bulnes, a remote village in the Picos de Europa offering impressive landscapes, traditional culture, and unique mountain life.

The day begins in Poncebos, at the start of the Cares Route. This trail runs alongside the Cares River through a dramatic gorge carved by water erosion. The route offers peaceful natural surroundings and impressive mountain views.

You will then take the Bulnes funicular, included in your ticket, an 8-minute underground ride that connects Poncebos with Bulnes village, which has no road access.

Once in Bulnes, explore its cobbled streets and traditional architecture. Visit the chapel of Our Lady of the Snows and the local viewpoint offering views of Picu Urriellu (Naranjo de Bulnes), a notable peak in Spanish mountaineering.

The excursion continues to Arenas de Cabrales to visit the Cheese Cave. Here, you will learn about the artisanal production of Cabrales cheese, a centuries-old Asturian tradition.

The experience ends with a tasting of Cabrales cheese accompanied by local Asturian cider, showcasing authentic regional flavors.
