Description

At the appointed time, we will pick you up at the meeting point of your choice and head to the Asturian part of the Picos de Europa National Park, one of the most beautiful protected areas in the Cantabrian Mountains. We will head to our first stop at the Covadonga Lakes. We will enjoy their beautiful landscapes from the Entrelagos viewpoint, where we will have beautiful views of the Ercina and Enol lakes. Did you know that a carving of the Virgin of Covadonga is submerged in the latter? Next, we will head to the Basilica of Santa María la Real de Covadonga, where we will visit the interior and talk about the Reconquista. After learning about its origins, you can visit the Sanctuary of Covadonga at your leisure. Here you can see the tomb of King Don Pelayo and the famous Cueva de la Santina. After visiting the surroundings of Covadonga, we will head to Cangas de Onís, where we will accompany you to discover the vestiges of its past as the first capital of the Kingdom of Asturias. We will walk past the Hermitage of Santa Cruz and the Roman bridge of Cangas, while we tell you the history of these monuments. After lunch, we will return to the starting point.
