Join a guided tour through Somiedo Natural Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2000 and one of Asturias' earliest protected areas. The park showcases the ethnographic culture of the Asturian mountains and preserves diverse natural landscapes.
The tour begins with a drive toward Alto de la Farrapona mountain pass. Along the route, you will encounter rocky mountain scenery and viewpoints suitable for bear spotting.
From Alto de la Farrapona, take a 30-minute walk to La Cueva Lake, surrounded by mountains and offering panoramic views.
Next, visit Las Veigas to explore the Somiedo Ecomuseum, where you will learn about traditional trades, transhumance, and the 'cabañas de teito'—local dwellings with thatched roofs.
Continue to Pola de Somiedo, the administrative center of the park. Explore its cobblestone streets, visit the 18th-century San Pedro Parish Church, and enjoy free time to try regional dishes.
