A few tips from the inside

If you want to truly enjoy fine dining in Asturias, don’t rush the experience. Many spots focus on seasonal ingredients, so timing your visit for spring or fall can mean better menus. Also, by all means, ask for recommendations on cider pairings, locals take that seriously. One of my favorites for a casual but still exceptional dinner is La Salgar in Gijón. It’s a Michelin star restaurant but doesn't feel intimidating. Oh, and don’t be shy about asking the staff about off-menu specials , sometimes local fishermen drop by and the chef whips up something incredible last minute.

Also, keep in mind that many fine dining places close on Mondays or Tuesdays, so check before heading out. If you want to experience authentic Asturian hospitality paired with top-notch cuisine, preparing a little will pay off big time.
